A recent report by RS Health and Safety has found there is a gender gap when it comes to PPE.

PPE or Personal Protective Equipment is a crucial consideration when it comes to your employee’s safety and wellbeing at work.

The 2024 survey was completed by 891 (71% male) people working in health and safety roles in the UK and Ireland, from a variety of sectors. Business size ranged from 10,000 employees to fewer than 49.

The report found that up to 40% of the employees that required PPE for their job were women, yet only 1% said that gender was an important factor when buying kit.

The report found that PPE needs to be more inclusive in terms of size, fit and suitability for female workers.
